This is one of those hidden gems that comes along from time to time and you just say WOW. The graphics are so vibrant and colourful it looks stunning on Quest 3. I love the mechanics of the game and controlling the dragon is very unique, flipping from hand to hand and using the trigger button fires flames from the dragon. Adventure story games are my absolute favourite and I am already loving this, I will fight to keep my dragon alive to save the day.

The Phoenix Gene game is out of this world. The game itself is so fun because you can use your hands as the remotes. The graphics are superb. You get your blood pumping while playing because you get your body moving in this action-packed game that reminds me of something out of one of the classic sci-fi novels but it comes to life on the VR. You go from wastelands to the future all while battling mutants scavengers and drones. The weapons are just right this game is really fun.

Good controls and fun mechanics like changing colors to match incoming attacks and defend npc levels. Nice graphics with vibrant colors and interesting level designs. Can give a nice workout in standing mode when you need to dodge obstacles. Developers are really responsive to user feedback with some great updates.

Really cool concept with this one. Basic idea is your character automatically moves through the stage (while you move around to dodge and collect things) and enemies pop up that you shoot at. But they added an interesting mechanic of switching realities so you can determine which objects can hurt you, and which pass right through. Gameplay is simple yet challenging, and the upgrades you receive as you progress enable you to go back to previous levels and get better scores. Don't be frustrated if you feel like you can't do everything from the very first level 😉 Lastly, a lot of effort was put into the story - I was quite impressed!

The graphics look amazing on Quest 3—very vibrant and detailed. Controlling the phoenix with body movement is something different and really well done, super immersive. It's an active experience that pulls you into the action and gets you moving, which makes it a lot of fun. The combat is intense, with great visual effects and a real sense of speed. Highly recommended if you're looking for something original, dynamic, and polished in VR.

Outstanding!!! This game is an amazing story driven shooter. Incredible boss challenges and story line keep you fighting through, even if you fail you will find yourself pushing yourself to go further, faster, harder. Amazing graphics and smooth game play are a definite, can be played seated or standing. This is the title you want if you want a good story and workout combined.

Tough but rewarding VR shmup! The Phoenix Gene a tough but unique take on a on-the-rails shooter where you guide Jackie and her Dragon across a series of levels. The game takes inspiration from both Panzer Dragoon and Ikaruga with a difficult to almost match them too! (It has an Ikaruga style switching mechanic where you can absorb shots of a particular colour for those wondering!) Guiding your Dragon around like you're holding a fictional dragon in your hand brought a childlike glee in me (pretending to fly toy helicopters). There's a 20+min voiced book excerpt within the game (and 3 more coming soon) for those invested enough in the story, but for others there is still an intense shoot-em-up here.

Great, colourful game, with cool graphics. The game has great settings and achievements and upgrade system. The graphics are very good, very colourful and gameplay is great to. The Phoenix does look amazing and the story behind it, I would recommend it. It's a keeper. I'm really enjoying it, the playability is excellent to progress through the levels.

Great game with dragon flying. This is a really nice looking game with awesome rail shooting where world keeps changing and you need to navigate through them + shoot your way with horde of enemies. Really good work out as you need to swap hands in order to dodge enemy fire. Environments are all different from each other. You also collect diamonds and change your dragon color from hot to cold! I definitely recommend this game to rail shooter fans and those who like dragons who shoot fire and ice!

The Phoenix Gene game is full of action and story. The graphics are amazing. Here are some reasons why I love the game, you actually get immersed in it because it's that good, you battle to save the future. You fight monsters and mutants and drones. You collect the gold flames for upgrades. This game is great it even has a dragon and who doesn't love dragons? It has so much more too.
Ellehcim99
Fun game with challenging boss fights. This is a very comfortable flying on-rails shooter game, great for new players. The phoenix is guided by your hands past obstacles and collect gems while trying to avoid getting hit by the shots from the drones trying to capture your human companion. You can also switch the Phoenix between your hands. Along the way the story is revealed in a unique method using full sized trippy dream animations and conversations between the human and the Phoenix explaining why you are being chased and who is behind it. You level up your Phoenix along the way and receive additional powers. The environments are colorful and look good, voice acting and music is also well done. There are many different levels to play through. I played the game seated.

A bit of fitness with a story. This game makes you move around so make sure you got some space. It's not fitness as you would think in other apps/games but more of a stretching and movement challenge as you play through a storyline, so you get to game, get to experience a narrative, and get to do it without feeling too guilty about gaming.
Redsparx
A fiery experience burning with action! As someone who loves seeing innovation in the VR space it was amazing to see a new way to move a character through a world. The action in this game is multi-layers and takes a lot of practice to get used to and is fun to learn. The fact there's also a full story about the lore of this universe is also a very nice part of the game. 10/10 highly recommended

Crazy but fun at the same time. I love the way that a story and VR come together in this action packed game , I found the bosses to be "Crazy but fun at the same time " as you have to go in a few times to get used to the colour changing power ups that is percent to you when battling with the bad guys, over all a well-made gaming experience that will get better and better over time.
Magicmerlin007
What a great game, really colorful and visually brilliant. Just love controlling the dragon, this has an engaging storyline I am looking forward to following as the game progresses. It is not the easiest though and thankfully I have risen from the ashes to continue forward and not having to start from the beginning each time. Early days so far but really enjoying it.

This is one of my favorite on-rails shooters. Instantly, playing the game, I got vibes of Panzer Dragoon. The control scheme is unique you are able to switch the dragon between hands like you are holding it. There is also elements of bullet hell games and an interesting mechanic where you switch different colors to match enemy shots. If you are blue you will absorb blue shots and heal. If you are orange you will absorb those projectiles. This keeps the game challenging and interesting. The story follows Jackie and I won't say too much to avoid spoilers but it is a nice complement to the action. The graphics look good on Quest 3. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun on rails shooter.

I’m always on the lookout for new VR games that push the boundaries, and The Phoenix Gene absolutely blew me away. From the moment I slipped on my headset, it was clear this wasn’t just another shooter. The total immersion is wild, your arms, your torso, your whole body gets pulled into the action as you control Firestorm, this massive, powerful Phoenix, and Jackie, the enhanced human protagonist. The movement feels natural and keeps you on your toes. The “realm toggle” mechanic is a standout. Absorbing enemy bullets and switching realities mid-fight is both strategic and thrilling. It’s not just about shooting everything in sight; it’s about timing those toggles and reading the battlefield. The satisfaction of weaving through a storm of bullets with just the right realm switch is hard to describe. Combat is fast and intense. If you enjoy action-packed VR with real physical movement and a unique twist on classic shooter mechanics, The Phoenix Gene is a must-try. It's challenging but fair, visually stunning, and truly fresh in a crowded genre.
StrangeTripsVFX
A sensational active virtual experience! When I play VR games, I like a good mix of gameplay, aesthetics and physical activity. The Phoenix Gene checks those boxes! The visual style of this game is dynamic. I enjoy moving around a lot. Ducking and dodging keeps things interesting, and at times I even jump to avoid obstacles, or lean back to avoid detection like Neo in bullet-time! I recommend you get your game on and rise up to the challenge with your dragon.
TruGamer4Realz
The game is on rails. You are basically piloting through a story that makes you want to keep playing to see what happens next. The environments are full of things to shoot at as you pilot a dragon that can switch from Fire to Ice based on what needs to be destroyed. This is a true bullet storm type game. You are able to go back and play each level at different difficulties and search for missed collectables as well. The game has some pretty cool boss battles which feels epic, like you really are fighting giant creatures which was a nice touch. I would also highly recommend playing this game in a chair that swivels as it makes seeing scenes and firing at all the enemies easier.
AielOlos
If you played games like Xortex (the lab), Shooty Skies Overdrive or Holo Impact, you know what kind of game this is. But in this case, the narrative it's a strong point and the level design are great. When you think, "Okay, I've had enough of this level." The game surprises you with a different kind of level. It's refreshing.
